Students in the LANL Scholars Program have the opportunity to work as paid interns as part of Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF).

The Wildfire Simulation & Data Visualization Camp offers participants the opportunity to receive hands-on training in areas including applied mathematics, computer science (e.g., data management, analysis, and visualization; artificial intelligence; machine learning; and in situ data management), and earth system model development. Summer Physics Camp for Young Women offers a unique opportunity for young students to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with STEM professionals. Participants will also be part of SAGE (Science Accelerating Girls' Engagement in STEM) Journey program.

BEAM Summer School: Bridging Education in Optics and Applied STEM is designed to ignite passion and curiosity towards STEM fields, with a particular focus on optical sciences and their applications and career paths. Through hands-on experiences, interactive workshops, and mentorship, students will gain foundational knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to pursue careers in these cutting-edge fields. DOE Community College Internships (CCI) encourages community college students to enter technical careers relevant to the DOE mission by providing technical training experiences at the DOE laboratories.

DOE Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) encourages undergraduate students to pursue STEM careers by providing research internship experiences at the DOE laboratories.

The SARRA Program is funded by DTRA and are Q-cleared students who work with a Lab mentor on a project that has real national security implications. The majority of SARRA students plan to major in STEM fields, but liberal arts majors will also find meaningful work at the Laboratory.

DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research Program (SCGSR) prepares graduate students for STEM careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories.  

  • Term: Year-round (3-12 months)

GEM Fellowship Program provides opportunities for master's and doctoral students in engineering and science from underrepresented groups.

  • Term: 1 or 2 summer (10 weeks each)

Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity (GFSD) assists with retention efforts for high-potential STEM graduate students. Participants must be actively enrolled in an accredited graduate program (MS or Ph.D.).
