Bringing new ideas to long-standing challenges in transactinium science

The Los Alamos Seaborg Institute integrates research programs on the chemical, physical, nuclear, and metallurgical properties of the lighter actinide elements, with a special emphasis on plutonium. The Institute serves as a national center for the education and training of students, visiting scientists, and faculty at all educational levels in transactinium science.

    Publication

    Actinide Research Quarterly

The Actinide Research Quarterly (ARQ)is a publication of the Glenn T. Seaborg Institute for Transactinium Science, a part of the LANL Institutes National Security Education Center.

    • Graduate Research Fellowship

Fellowships generally run 12 weeks, and give students an opportunity to join Los Alamos scientists in independent research projects that can contribute to their thesis or advanced degree in actinide science, technology and engineering.

    • G. T. Seaborg Institute Postdoctoral Fellows

The Seaborg Postdoctoral Fellowships support research in actinide science relevant to Laboratory mission areas by attracting and funding a future generation of postdoctoral scientists to foster sustained excellence and enhanced external visibility in actinide-related areas and to establish and sustain a broad intellectual community supporting the Los Alamos actinide mission.
